Halloween Recipes: Candied Apples
You will need 12 red apples (Macintosh if you
can find them) 3 cups granulated sugar 1 cup light corn syrup 1 cup water 1/2 - 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon red food coloring 12 wood popsicle sticks Wax paper Non-stick cooking spray
Wash and dry apples thoroughly.
Remove stem and insert popsicle
stick into stem hole until only half of the stick remains showing Combine sugar, corn syrup,
water in medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly until
sugar is completely dissolved Boil until syrup reaches hard
candy stage, 300 degrees F on a candy thermometer or drop a little into
cold water. If it hardens up right away, it is ready Reduce heat. Add cinnamon and
food coloring and remove from heat Tilt saucepan and dip apples in
the syrup, rotating until it is completely covered Place on waxed paper that has
been lightly sprayed with non-stick cooking spray
