Mincemeat Pie

Ingredients
9 inch double crust pastry, frozen or homemade
28 oz. jar mincemeat
1 1/2 cups chopped apple, peeled and cored
1/3 cup chopped nuts
2 teaspoons finely grated orange peel

Heat oven to 425. Prepare pastry. In large bowl, combine mincemeat and remaining ingredients. Pour into pastry-lined pie pan. Cover with top crust, seal and flute edge. Cut slits or decorative openings in top of pie crust to allow steam to escape during baking. Bake in 425 degree oven for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm and garnish with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if you like. |
