Make Snow Globe

Jars with lids: use your imagination--small jars, baby food jars etc. |
Glitter: your choice of color--silver or pearl work very well. |
Plastic or ceramic figures that fit inside of the jar: only use materials that will not rust or dissolve in the water. A trip to your local pet store will net you a host of ideas if you visit the aquariums. |
Acrylic epoxy cement, or any strong glue or adhesive sealant that is waterproof. |
Distilled water |
Glycerin: available at the drugstore--this adds viscosity and makes the glitter fall slowly. |
Spray paint: if you choose to spray paint the lid. |
Instructions
![]() |
1. Wash and thoroughly dry the jars and lids. If you would like to paint the lids, spray paint them and let them dry. 2. When everything is completely dry, arrange the figures on the lid and put the jar on top to make sure they fit. When you are satisfied with your arrangement, glue the figures down and let them dry thoroughly. (You might want to lightly sand the surface of the lid for better adhesion.) 3. Fill the jars to the brim with distilled water. Add a few drops of glycerin and a pinch of glitter. 4. Screw the lid with the glued down figures on the jar tightly. Do this over the sink or a dish since some water will spill out. If you want, add a bead of your adhesive around the top of the jar rim before screwing on the lid. 5. Congratulations! You have just finished making a gift that will be loved and appreciated by whomever you gift it with. |
